We didn't go out looking for turkeys today.

But, apparently, the turkeys were looking for us!

Place: The Arboretum, Madison, Wisconsin. Time: Sunset.

AND: Now, the eagerly anticipated Part 2, The Turkeys Continue to Walk Around:

Actually, there is a Part 3, and it does get a little action-y after Meade... well, Meade is off-camera. Let's just look at the turkeys:

What the heck were Pelosi, Reid, Barney Frank, and Joe Biden doing in the Arboretum??

Who knew that wild turkeys have purple feathers. Purple seeks you out. Over at Publix even the natural free range birds are featherless.

vbspurs said...

Never mind the purple feathers. I'm more concerned that there is a Part 2.

wv: jolocurm!

A jolly curmudgeon?

The turkeys always seem to find you, that's the way life is.

Just be glad you didn't see Les Nessman :)

WV "ribbi" What a Jewish frog says Saturday night at temple.

You're concerned? How do you think the turkeys feel?

Cue funeral music.

Dad Bones said...

Will travel for gravel.

LOL. That's right! Part 2 will be a Meade iPhone video close-up of the gobbler on a platter.

Or him flat out on the couch asleep with gravy drippings on his shirt.

It won't be pretty. For the turkeys or for us.

If their desire for retribution could be stuffed in a duck and that stuffed in a chicken would it be a...Vengducken?

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

They are very dignified with a tie..

The tie was meant to impress Althouse.

Yeah, dead turkeys walking, if you ask me.

Sean Penn is in there somewhere, my guess.

vbspurs said...

LOL, Ron! Did you happen to listen to Prairie Home Companion last night? The "Guy Noir" episode featured a lady making a vegan turducken.

"A turnip. A duck egg and an onion."

dbp said...

It ain't cool being no jive turkey so close to Thanksgiving.

No offence, Mrs. Meade. But your video sure could use some Van Halen.

Victoria! PHC is not high on my listening choices, shall we say! I do miss you, though, m'dear!

When we see Meade has installed a combination Wood Chipper/Turkey Beheader out in the back then we will know that Palin has won over Althouse. That may have to await her inauguration day.

Jason (the commenter) said...

They're taunting you with their deliciousness!

Steve M. Galbraith said...

Thought for sure there'd be a Palin joke in here by now.

Anger affects the funny bone.

Ron said...

Don't tell Sully about the vegan turducken; he'll "strategically" place one in the hopes he can nurture a better VP for The One in '12...

They are all over the place north of here. Drive along some of the back roads and see flocks of several hundred. And yes, Virginia....Turkeys CAN fly.

traditionalguy said...

If they can dub in Pinker and Wright's Bloggingheads with these Turkeys movements that would give those guys a little more life.

These turkeys take their plastic surgeons pics of Bob Wright when they want to show him what they want removed...

They're looking for candy wrappers.

vbspurs said...

Ron I love your new avatar. Very chic. :)

Ron said...

Vic, I'm seeing young Joan Blondell as Althouse myself...

Steve M. Galbraith said...

Yes, this does look like a few of those Wright/Kaus bloggingheads shows.

Man...what's with Bob? I get Kaus; but Wright sometimes?

Ron said...

Vic go to my blog for Robert Benchley comparision to my avatar!

J. Cricket said...

Sandra Bullock as Althouse?!

Much more appropriate: Kathy Bates!

Gobble, gobble, gobble. Turkeys lead the most blissfully unaware existence. Their fate is to end up on our tables.

Steve M. Galbraith said...

Yeah, well that's not really where they end up.

But we get the idea.

As long as they don't.

Steve M. Galbraith said...

As sequels usually are, Part 2 was definitely a letdown.

Godfather II? Now there was a sequel.

This? Eh...

Alex said...

Why not? Turkey all year long is a good thing on my table, lunch-wrap and general food-stuff. Gobble, gobble.

Sprezzatura said...

Speaking of turkeys; even the biggest Palin fans (e.g. vbspurs) must be willing to acknowledge that this didn't turn out to be the best photo op of all time.

Alex said...

1jpb - can't you keep politics out ever? Are you some fucking psycho?

Steve M. Galbraith said...

It was 36 posts before that was brought up?

They're losing their energy.

Well, turkey does make one sleepy.

Sprezzatura said...

Alex,

Er...I don't know how to tell you this but your reaction fits the following description far better than does my comment.

"A severe mental disorder, with or without organic damage, characterized by derangement of personality and loss of contact with reality and causing deterioration of normal social functioning."

Have you considered some sort of medication to help you reign in your anger.

BTW, have you seen what Ron wrote? I'm sure he can expect an outburst at any moment. What? No outburst. I see.

SMG,

Maybe you could help your pal Alex with is irrational anger. If nothing else, you're leading by example w/ your reasonable comment. Is he watching? Is he learning?

Time will tell.

Alex said...

1jpb - no the one who comes into a turkey thread and immediately brings up politics is an insane psychopath who needs to be arrested and incarcerated.

Sprezzatura said...

Right, Alex. I'm sure that you got that definition from a clinical text.

Your uncontrollable anger is sensible. Sure.

Alex said...

1jpb - I am hardly angry. I've just enjoyed a nice rack of lamb with brandy.

Meade chased away the turkey. Harrassment, harrassment I say!

Turkeys, having learned their lesson from the last batch of immigrants they failed to stop back in the 17th century, now go after immigrants with a vengeance.

Why can't you shop for turkeys at Sentry Hilldale like the rest of normal people?
