"We want this list to be as accurate as Palin is delusional."

Then if your list is completely inaccurate and Palin isn't at all delusional, you'll have what you want. How devilish! Or, no. Are you going to tell me that's not what you meant, obviously? Aha! By your own standard, you are a liar. Oh, but that's not really your definition of a liar, that's just a standard to be applied to Sarah Palin? Ah, well, then you are a hypocrite. Which is it?

ADDED: Sarah Palin's Uterus — who calls me "notable uterus-having individual Ann Althouse" — has a lot to say.

I don't think any of these Palin posts are about Palin. They're about the anti-Christian, anti-wrong-kind-of-feminist, anti-don't-talk-like-an-ivy-leaguer media.

Media assholes have exposed the depths of their assholery with regards to Palin.

You can be a non-Palin fan, you can even actively be scared of what Palin represents, and you should still find the behavior of the media to be disgusting.

Well, Kent, as much as Sully dreads Sarah Palin's uterus -- and the Cthulu-like horror of the v*j*yj*y -- I think it horribly unfair to say that Andrew Sullivan hates Jews.

traditionalguy said...

The supposedly impirical list of Palin's lies is the weakest kind of one quarter truths. Whenever I see such coming from opposition it is comforting, because they would have used the real dirt if they had any. Since that Drivel is all they came up with Andrew has confirmed Palin's character by showing that an opponent who examines Palin's flaws will come up empty.

Gary Kirk said...

What I need to know after reading Andrew's list of Palin's lies is, is all that true?

If they are, with such a lengthy list, then she should be shunned and ignored.

If they aren't, then somebody, preferably a citizen of another country, needs to make a list of Andrew's lies and start a blog that 75% of the time attacks him.

Adam said...

I'll bet she stole Andrew's strawberries, too.

Rialby said...

My question is...

How much of Sully's shtick is driven by a mental disorder and how much is driven by a desperate need to get in the good graces of his favorite reader, BHO? Someone else posted this before and it sounds a bit off-the-wall but plausible - Sullivan's visa expires in 2011 and because he's HIV positive and is unwilling to marry a woman, he cannot apply for permanent residency or citizenship but he could get a reprieve from the very top.

Is that true? Does anyone know?

Adam said...

Just two of the many idiocies available at Andrew Sullivan's Target-Rich Environment:

"Palin lied when she announced on the news that she never holds closed-door meetings; in fact, she had just attended a closed-door meeting with the legislature earlier that day."

This fool doesn't understand the difference between "holding" a meeting and "attending" a meeting. Or else SULLY'S A LIAR!1!!

"Palin lied when she said that former aide John Bitney's "amicable" departure was for "personal" reasons; in fact, Bitney said he was fired because of his relationship with the wife of Palin's friend...."

So either Sully doesn't think that a "relationship" with someone's wife is "personal" or else HE'S A LIAR!!11!!

If this guy's nickname weren't already "sully," it would be necessary to make it so.

Kirby Olson said...

Each sentence is worded so vaguely that it's hard to determine what he's saying.

Rialby said...

So, I did a little research:

Current and future immigration law allows for waivers for those with HIV for permanent residency. Unfortunately for Sully, he does not qualify.

Sully has said the following on his blog just this past summer under a posting about gay couples who have US immigration problems: Mine ends for good (no more waivers possible) in March 2011. Tick, tock.

Rialby said...

So, the question needs to be publicly asked, "Is Andrew Sullivan working under the belief that if he does the dirty work for the Democratic Party and his overlord, Barack Obama, he will be granted some sort of reprieve from immigration law?" Is there a quid pro quo at work here?

Or is he just bat shit crazy?

I can see the fascination with Palin. She is bright, provocative, chipper, assertive, good-looking, and comes across as someone you'd love to have with you on a hike, a bike ride, or just over for coffee.

But for the life of me - why the fascination with Sulllivan? He is dreary, pedantic, smug, and One-Note Johnny on SSM. I would dread to be stuck on the same bus with him for a 15 minute ride crosstown.

However, on the plus side, he's like Pavlov's dog w/r/t Palin. Just say "Palin" in his presence and watch him go crazy.

Steve M. Galbraith said...

I'm not sure the "Palin represents his mean Mommy" explanation applies.

When the controversy over the "gay Lincoln" arose about three years or so ago, for example, Sullivan displayed many of these same characteristics against those who questioned the thesis.

I.e., taking quotes out of context, personal attacks, Moby-like crusade intensity; albeit all on a smaller scale.

It is strange that a man who talks about a "conservatism of doubt", about how one must recognize the moral complexity of the world, can be so fanatically rigid. Once he makes his mind up - as we saw originally about Bush and Iraq - all who disagree must be destroyed.

It is what he is.

Althouse was fed the weakest Palin lie on Andrew's list by a commenter on a previous thread. It didn't surprise me that rather than address the fact that Palin lies all the time, she singled out the one weak item on Andrew's list of lies. Yes, that item does show that Andrew Sullivan is out to get Palin. But Althouse was out to pretend she doesn't notice the lies when she pretended she randomly clicked on that one Israeli flag item. One of her commenters (I know this because he posted it in reply to one of my posts) had used that same response to Sullivan's list of lies in a previous thread.

It's too bad Andrew Sullivan allows that weak item to stay on his list of lies, because lawyers like Althouse will use that as an excuse to overlook the mountains of evidence that Sarah Palin is a huge and weird liar.

Is there some kind of proscription here on the theory that Sullivan is suffering from dementia?

Exhibit 1: Andrew Sullivan used to be a rational comentator.

Exhibit 2: Andrew Sullivan has now embarked on a crusade against Sarah Palin that even his supporters admit has clearly gone off the deep end.

Exhibit 3: Andrew Sullivan is HIV-positive.
