"Brazilian prostitute had collar bone broken when three U.S. marines threw her out of a moving Embassy car..."

This isn't the other prostitutes-in-South-America scandal. That one was in Colombia. This is Brazil. The other one involved Secret Service agents. This one had 3 marines on a U.S. Embassy security team and a member of the Embassy staff.

UPDATE: Blogger unpublished this post but it is a serious news story. It seems you can’t blog about a prostitute without risking being perceived as a using the blog to conduct prostitution!

UPDATE 2: I followed the procedure Blogger gave me and this post was very quickly "reinstated" (their word). I do see the need to keep Blogger from being used to conduct prostitution, and I appreciate that the review procedure is fast and easy. But I wish they'd tighten up their process at the front end!

Sex is good. It is an important bodily function. Why are we still putting up with all this puritanism?

I was in Rio de Janeiro when a US Nimitz-class carrier with thousands of sailor abord pulled into harbor to spend a few days. It was announced that the admiral had granted them all shore leave on the condition that they not "fraternize" with the local women.

What a joke. I soon saw sailors with multiple women hanging from their arms. They didn't fraternize, they womanized.

I consider such behavior perfectly normal and desirable.

Who gets hurt? If it's the wife waiting back home, well, the Navy has no business taking in married sailors, especially considering they are paid better in housing and benefits than the single guy who should not be denied one of the chief benefits of being single: hookers.

This is nasty, obviously much worse than Colombia. And although insignificant, both the Colombian and this Brazilian woman are beautiful. I see high priced escorts in Vegas w/ old rich guys @ the craps table. Few come close to these two women. The Marines are reprehensible.

With every opportunity to set the record straight, it seems like the Obama administration has been in full cover-up mode. And I'm sure the White House Counsel has "cleared" everyone in the White House of all wrong doing.

This latest incident, which happened in November last year, came to light after U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, in Brazil during a Latin American tour, was questioned about it by a Brazilian reporter during a press conference...

Speaking to reporters in Brasilia, Mr Panetta said the men were pulled from the country, two of the marines had their ranks reduced and the embassy staff member was removed from his post.

He added that the embassy had tracked Ms Ferreira down and paid for her medical expenses.

He added: 'This incident was fully investigated and all those involved were punished. They are no longer in this country. This type of behaviour is unacceptable.'

He said he had 'no tolerance for that kind of conduct. Where it takes place you can be sure that we will act to make sure that they are punished.'

Ms Ferreira, who is still recovering from her injuries, said she now intends to sue the American embassy.

I'd like to see the breakdown of the SS guards and those Embassy marines as to marital status.

I'll bet a dollar to a donut that the major offenders were married.

I fell into company with a huge group of Amerikan redneck tobacco buyers in Santa Cruz, Brazil, who were down there for their annual trip to buy tobacco. They had a Brazilian cathouse on retainer and one night took me along for drinking, dancing and womanizing (a sadly lost experience that I'd only seen in US Westerns,) and every one of the guys who opted for the sex was married.

I still wonder why married guys are usually the biggest horndogs. It's probably that they are so eager to have some good sex without first having to "relate" and without all the pentelinhos running around. Or is it just an Amerikan male problem. Poor things!

Furthermore, it's a joke that Panetta paid for the hooker's medical care.

Medical care is free in Brazil, though of course you can pay for VIP care. I think the poor woman went to a clinic or emergency room and was treated without charge, well before Panetta ever found her, same as I am treated when I'm in Brazil, and I'm neither a citizen nor permanent resident there.

The leadership of our country speaks nothing but lies and knows nothing but cover-up of unending sins against foreigners of all stripes, it seems. That fact and the rampant puritism here provide sufficient reason to move to Brazil for good.

Here's a primer in Amerikan Puritanism for those poor souls among you who haven't yet managed to get out to visit a civilized country:

1. The age of consent to sex (homo or hetero) in Brazil is 14, and even younger if the pair is close in age. In Amerika, it is 18.

2. In Brazil, the largest Roman Catholic country in the world, condoms are made freely available to all schoolkids starting at 11 years old, by government mandate. In Amerika, if you just show an 11-yr-old a magic balloon, you will be lifelong branded a sex-offender.

3. Prostitution is legal in Brazil. In Amerika, you can be arrested for even thinking about it.

4. A liter of hard liquor (cachaça 51) that costs $2 in Brazil costs $22 here in Texas. In Brazil, you can buy and drink booze anywhere 24/7. In Texas you can't buy beer on Sunday morning or any day after midnight, and you may have to drive hundreds of thirsty miles through dry Texas counties trying to get from Louisiana to another civilized state.

5. Most all Brazilian women wear bikinis that will get you arrested on a Florida beach.

My brother broke his collar bone by sliding down the giraffe's neck. A tall slide in the shape of a giraffe. Drinking water or something. Liberties were taken with the giraffe representation. It didn't look exactly real but yellow with brown blotches and the general shape conveyed the idea nicely.

The giraffe slide belonged to a girl who lived in the house next to my grandmother in Bethlehem Pennsylvania. From my point of view as a kindergardener, Bethlehem Pennsylvania was notable for being Grandma's town, the place where Jesus was born, and the place with house that has the awesome slide. Their whole back yard was awesome.

I wanted to slide that slide so bad but never did.

And then my brother does and breaks his collar bone, and I didn't even know collars had bones. It was all so tragic.

Wait. He fell of a bike. It didn't have anything to do with giraffe slide. Sorry. I guess I'm still obsessed with the slide.

But it will be different if we leave gays out of it and just seek to fire any heterosexual in the military, FBI, Secret Service, diplomat corps known by Paula Reid or suspected by her..of paying to use their evil penises on willing and legal women abroad.

So there is no such thing as gay vermin of vices that need to be fired. Just heterosexual vermin.

It is stuff like this that buttresses the notion that the Religious Righters cheering Paula Reid on are a little deficient in the brains department. Rejection of evolution, mandatory vaginal probes to get an abortion, glorification of the TSA Heroes Who Keep Us All Safe, suspicion of those with college degrees, glorification of Zionism? Because only 1 Secret Service agent was truly indiscrete...Paula Reid..as an insider..was able to use her insider knowledge to put together a witch hunt on 21 other discrete SS and military people and try to wreck their "hetereonormative lives".

As Jimbino said US Navy port calls in Rio de Janero anyone?? Any organization can have internal babushkas, informants in place to weed out not just the indiscrete, but the discrete.
The Soviets were interested in eliminating not just the open critics of Stalin, but the ones the babushkas in the neighborhoods could ferret out. The FBI in the 50s and 60s staked out "known homosexual clubs" to flag even discrete "deviants" and especially those homos that "fraternized with foreigners and boy hustlers".

The goal of Paula Reid is to gain further professional advancement by chopping off heads of discrete as well as indiscrete "penis-wielders". And brain-dead conservatives are cheering her every firing and demanding new "moral purges in the military".

Reid is just an evil backstabbing bitch...but her conservative allies are the morons.

No, Paula Reid's power thirsty witch hunt to expand the scandal past the one indscreet agent to 22 others made the US an object of ridicule.

After the Gulf War and Tailhook, I met with a British colleague that said the Royal AF had calculated that the cost to US taxpayers of replacing the pilots lost in that witch hunt exceeded 160 million dollars.
"Nice you Yanks have that sort of money to throw around!".

And since I was privy to AF security reports in a war zone...I think that at any given point we could have eliminated 1/3rd of the personnel at Incirlik by "going by the book" and going after discrete and indiscrete acts that could discredit America if a Paula Reid had contacted the media and made a huge deal of it.

If we go with new teams of internal informants and spies..we might be able to purge a quarter of the US Congressional staff, a quarter of the diplomatic corps, and half the US Navy, maybe a 1/3rd of our Marine Corps.

And will the moral show trials help morale of the survivors still around after the Paula Reids and babushkas are done? Or help recruiting?
I mean, there are just so many mormons, black lesbians with axes to grind against men, and Rick Santorum like characters...How to you have a Navy, a diplomat corps, a healthy Marine recruit pool to draw from when feminists and social conservatives alike slaver for trials for those caught drinking, frolicking with prostitutes in countries where it is legal?

It could be that jimbino is confusing hypocrisy with puritanism.

We choose to keep sex private.. more private rather than less.

NYT Sunday Mag 2001

Under a Hollywood dateline, the show-biz trade paper reported that the adult-video business ''saw record revenues last year'' of some $4.2 billion in rentals and sales.

Mind you that was before the parodies boom.

The $4 billion that Americans spend (2001) on video pornography is larger than the annual revenue accrued by either the N.F.L., the N.B.A. or Major League Baseball. But that's literally not the half of it: the porn business is estimated to total between $10 billion and $14 billion annually in the United States when you toss in porn networks and pay-per-view movies on cable and satellite, Internet Web sites, in-room hotel movies, phone sex, sex toys and that archaic medium of my own occasionally misspent youth, magazines.

Its more complicated than the "puritan" label jimbino stamping it with.

Yes, Brazil, being a tropical country, has lots of viral, bacterial and parasite infections that even an up-tight Amerikan RC priest can easily pick up there.

It's not unusual to contract bicho de pé, dengue, malaria, yellow fever, hepatitis A, amoebiasis, and various helminths--all pretty unknown here in the USSA.

Teddy Roosevelt and his son Kermit almost died of them. You won't have to worry though--you will pick up no STDs and no tropical illnesses while you continue to sit at your computer blogging nonsense.

But if, in fact, you return to the USSA from travel on a beach or rainforest in Brazil, the clinic you go to won't even recognize the disease--another reason not to subscribe to Obamacare in the USSA.

No, I have nothing against squeaky clean Mormons or the extreme Catholics that J Edgar Hoover preferred to select from ranks of lawyers and accountants. Over recruiting actual high-performing but "morally tainted" detectives from police forces, or those with serious street knowledge of crooked criminal enterprises - which led to "Hoovers Boy Scouts"..An organization that was obsessed with appearances - and singularly ineffective against organized crime, major tax cheaters, and most espionage activities. Culturally and in everyday experience and acquaintances - Hoovers Boy Scouts were light years away from being able to understand such targets and their modus operandi.

They were hell on wheels though, on bank robbers, kidnappers, and in ferreting out the designated "sexual deviants" of the 50s and 60s inside government and the civil rights movement.

My point is there is no potential recruiting pool - of fine in and of themselves Mormons, black lesbians, and Opus Dei Santorum wannabes IS BIG ENOUGH to staff the US government and US military entirely.

And unfortunately, a big chunk of the religious right and Zero Tolerance conservatives - in failing to see Paula Reids power ploy for what it is - really are too stupid to trust in critical positions in the US military, Secret Service, Presidential and Congressional staffs.
