"All Stephanie [Cutter] wants is results."

"She is an old-school, take-no-prisoners political operative. Losing is not tolerated."
In her role as Mrs. Obama’s chief of staff during the 2008 campaign, Ms. Cutter (who signed on after Mrs. Obama’s widely publicized comment that “for the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country”) is largely credited for turning the would-be first lady from a potential liability to an enormous asset....

In addition, Ms. Cutter helped develop “Let’s Move!,” Mrs. Obama’s childhood-obesity initiative, and prepared Sonia Sotomayor for her Supreme Court confirmation hearings. Ms. Cutter’s prep work involved not only peppering Ms. Sotomayor with sample questions and overseeing media coverage, but also taking on the more delicate task of asking Ms. Sotomayor to tone down her giant dangly earrings.

“She has an attention to detail that builds huge confidence on the part of the people she works for and, I say this parenthetically, especially women,” said Anita Dunn, Mr. Obama’s former White House communications director.
Women. Advancing. Right?

I love Stephanie Cutter. As a top-notch consultant, only a SO like her could satisfy my thirst for politics. She is the best. I tell you, the best. If Obama wins re-election, I hope she gets to be the Press Secretary, Chief of Staff (or Deputy), or the Cabinet Secretary (that is, a liaison to all Cabinets based in WH-WW, for those who do not understand).

Stephanie has worked with all the best politicians in modern day. No one who is any-one is where he or she is without her consult. The Davids (Plouffe and Axe) are just your generic men. They take credit for other work. SC is the hardest working person in the WH-WW, take it from someone has been in the same room as she has. She is like a fire-storm on a quiet day. Nothing rattles here and nothing scares. She envies no one and she fears no one.

She is the only obstacle between Romney/Ryan and the WH.

In addition, Ms. Cutter helped develop “Let’s Move!,” Mrs. Obama’s childhood-obesity initiative, . . .

Absolutely doomed to failure, however, as the only child-anti-obesity initiative that would have a prayer of succeeding would be one called and structured around "Let's Eat Way Fewer Carbs".

So, they both get zero credit for "Let's Move", which is based on as much nonsense 'science' as is Creationism.

She garners positive press for Obama from the MSM? Talk about being born on third base...

Accolades which belie her record as a gate keeper of the Taranto Principle.

According to the Taranto Principle, the media's failure to hold left-wingers accountable for bad behavior merely encourages the left's bad behavior to the point that its candidates are repellent to ordinary Americans.

Try again.

Conservatives like Rush, Ann Coulter, Mark Levin, and even Hannity. There really haven't been any Atwater types recently. The psychos and haters all seem to be on the Left these days.

Karl Rove certainly doesn't fit.

But some phony folksy is kidding himself if he thinks Cutter's doing well. As I say, she's getting out farther and farther on a long limb over the Libya business and her mouth is the saw, cutting it off behind her.

Ah she's a real charmer .

Unfortunately for the Obama campaign she's in front of the camera unlike in 2008... looking at her smug, arrogant face while she's lying through her teeth is a bit off putting to some voters , especially the undecided , white soccer moms in Ohio, that everyone says will decide this election.

What is it about democrat women,, Pelsoi, this chick, the other WazWhatever her name is...... it's almost scary how they can bullshit without any shame and with such arrogance , a bet if any of them killed someone, they'd pass a lie detector test without a sweat.

But them again she is a true representative of the Obama campaign especially after Fightin' Joe theatrics, wonder what surprises Obama's going to pull after a week in Axelrod's debate boot camp.

Bill Moyers, you know, Mr Ethics over at PBS, was able to smear him the way your boy Zero tried with Romney.

yashu said...

I suppose she's as good at her particular job (defending the Obama admin) as anyone could be. That ain't an easy job, folks.

I despise the outfit she works for, but let's put that to one side. I'd say she's better (as a public spokesperson) than Axelrod and Messina-- but a lot of that has to do with surface qualities. Her gender and looks are certainly an asset, one that the Obama campaign (in "war on women" season) is intentionally capitalizing on. But she's much better at it than DWS (who's been too exposed as an out-and-out liar by now).

Yes, IMO Cutter spins lie after lie. But she's like an adwoman or publicity agent. Amoral. The product just happens to be the Obama admin. It's a dirty job, but I guess someone's got to do it, or anyway gonna do it. So why not her?

somefeller said...

Is it just me, or are the number of Obama spokespeople/ surrogates we typically see in the press... very few?

Axelrod, Messina, Cutter, DWS... and Biden. That's about it, no?

Whereas Romney has his campaign spokespeople, but also former and current governors, mayors, congressmen...

Of course, Obama has much of the MSM, too, doing the bulk of his campaign work for him.

But still-- does it seem to anyone else an unusually narrow and... odd group of people?

somefeller said...

PS Tell us more about how Cutter is "doing well".

The "doing well" line was a reference to the comments about her supposed trust fund and her getting paid well. Doing well is a term often used in reference to financial success, and that's how I was using the term. I realize that concept is alien to you, so that plus your generally low level of reading comprehension skills probably lead to your confusion on that point. As far as the campaign doing well (different context now), it's not doing as well as it was before the debate, but that's not Cutter's fault and election day is still a few weeks from now.

edutcher said...

Oh, like what they used to say about the missionaries who came to Hawaii,

No, that concept is so alien to me I didn't understand the gag until right now.

And Cutter's verbal miscues are certainly hurting the campaign.

Thanks for playing.

Lets just say that the negative perception people have of lawyers and politicians is advanced the most by the people (mostly democratic these days) employed to lie on camera that happen to be lawyers.
Lawyers that relish lying and plagarizing and consider the public knowing they are lying as testament to their intellect and skill as lawyers.

Stephanie Cutter, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, (Niel Kinnock) Biden, Hillary, (it depends on what is, is...) Bill Clinton. Hilary Rosen. Anita Dunn. Barack Himself. Nixon. (I'm a Cherokee!) Elizabeth Warren.

And the targets of their duplicitous lawyer vitriol tend to be members of the public or those in public service that are reasonably honest people the lawyers cast as "Lying evil liars who lie, lie, lie".
Call it projection..on the forked tongue lawyers part.

And Democrat lawyers tend to be the main players at this. For every Lee Atwater, there seems to be 10-15 liberal Democrat lawyers who do it.
So their protestations like "what about Lee Atwater?" tend to ring as hollow as a radical Muslim Islamoid protesting after the 25th straight Islamoid terror attack, "What about Timothy McVeigh?"

Why the preponderance of lying lawyers on the democrat side?

1. They are in the Leftist tradition of the Jewish Bolsheviks, Herbert Marcuse, the socialist fascists on the left inspired by the methodical application the Bolsheviks did to lie to advance power. The socialist Saul Alinsky and the Gramsican school.
2. Like-minded liberals and progressive Jews in the media let them get away with lie after lie until an Anthony Weiner has to be cast overboard as too eggregious a liar in service of his perversions to ignore,

=================
Only her WASPy trust fund baby good looks keep her on the air. You will notice that in recent times the Obamites have been smart enough to keep camera-loving but repulsive "lyin' lawyers" like Chuck Schumer, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Hilary Rosen off-screen as much as possible.

They figured out that DWS was seen as a hated figure by most the people in the middle - another stupid, but smart-mouthed NYC Jew - a repellant penisless Anthony Weiner. And yanked her off the air about a month and a half ago.

They haven't quite figured that WASP Stephanie Cutter is while good-looking and more poised a liar than DWS...just as reptilian to voters in the middle. And the DNC frequently has to clean up after Cutter when she goes to far. "WH Spokesman disputed Cutter's claim that Romney and the people at Bain are felons. And Bill Clinton weighed in saying Bain has a sterling reputation"

Ooooops, Stephanie!!

Republicans actually should be happy with Rosen, Cutter, Axelrod, and Wasserman-Schultz if they let her back from Siberia in the last weeks....they "peel the bark" as Atwater put it...off the facade of the Obamites as somehow different from run of the mill corrupt and dishonest Chicago pols.

Sammy touches on my immediate reaction. There are a lot of Democrat women, Cutter, Pelosi, Wasserman-Schultz, Rosen, who will say anything to prop up their team.

I'm not sure if it's so much like taking pride as an effective liar as it is complete immersion in their political dogma. It's like they've become a cult acolyte, and when they say something that totally contradicts a situation, like when Cutter says Benghazi was only an issue as a political prop, or when Pelosi whistled past the graveyard just before the 2010 midterm elections, they lose credibility. When you abdicate your judgement, and are fed wildly inaccurate lines that you repeat on national TV, then you're not making progress for women. You've become no better than a parrot.

She's a paid political hack, that will say and/or do anything for who ever is high payer. What's new there?

This is more of the really old idea that women vote their body parts. What the heck has happened here, that makes it "cool" to describe ourselves as vaginas when we spent yrs working against the sexist notion that were "tits and ass"? Who exactly is it that is trying to sell us that doing this to ourselves is some how noble, while men doing it to us is sexist?

If there was ever a dose of Camille Paglia needed, its now. If my 20 yo daughter conducted herself that way, or my son...they'd have found my boot up their ass. Same goes for Biden...who's got 11 yo that act like that? Yeah, exactly.

This is why bipartisan cannot be accomplished. You have one side in the debate and conduct of business that's decided this behavior is cool. Apparently too much South Park, Daily & Colbert. They no longer can tell the difference between tv satire and real life.

Do not want this person on any team I'm part of, especially teams that are managing the wealth and health of our republic. This is a person that wins in the short run, but eventually customers find out the wheels don't stay on the wagon..and then it's yrs before you can get your reputation back.

Hey, I've got my various resentments, too--and this, **absolutely**, is one of the various. A stand-out, even.

yashu said...

Continuing my thought (though probably too late for anyone to read it, but I'll comment anyway).

All the usual Obama spokespeople/ surrogates are people "on the inside," as it were. All part of the White House inner circle, all people who work directly for Obama. More specifically: Obama campaign people. Not people with any substantive duties in the Obama admin other than: (re)elect Obama. (Axelrod of course seems to have a powerful and substantive role in the Obama admin itself, not just the campaign; but that's because the essence of the Obama admin itself, the core of it, seems to be something of a "permanent campaign.")

All of Obama's spokespeople are, as it were, his publicity agents. That's their only (or primary) job.

Whereas Romney surrogates seem to be a much wider and diverse group of people, not all of whom are "on the inside" of the campaign, not all of whom work for him. Some are his ex-rivals.

It's only circumstantial, but-- it seems that a group like the former would be more apt to present a concerted web of lies than the latter (which includes, as it were, freer agents, and people who have their own reputation/ cred/ office, apart from Romney, to protect).

True, in part I'm comparing apples to oranges, an incumbent administration to a challenger's campaign. But in a way that ironically accentuates the point: most of Obama's (the incumbent admin's) surrogates are people who specialize in campaigning, selling a candidate or party. Whereas Romney's surrogates are, more often than not, statesmen or legislators (people who are or have been in political office), or involved in private enterprise-- people doing and running things. Other than a campaign.
