Quazi Mo don't...

But he did. Such a handsome lad too. Why would you throw you're life away? Ah, maybe he's innocent, and it was a big set up.

He could've been the Arab/Persian Elvis!

Mayor Bloomberg says maybe Quazi was upset about the health care law, that's why he was going to bomb the federal reserve. Can't think of any other reason why he'd do the thing he did. Nope. Nothing to see here.

If only people would just shut up and obey Sharia law, none of this would have to happen.

We only have ourselves to blame.

I have a hunch the police will make a Hugo mistake and forget to read him his Esmeralda rights. Did they frollo him for a long time?

That's handsome? Do you think most people who appreciate male beauty would think so?

I'm always intrigued by the concept of male beauty. My wife sometimes points out someone that she thinks is handsome, and I think, "really?!" Brad Pitt is probably the paradigm.

How does one think with girly bits?

Deeply?
Smoothly?
With fully enveloped thoughts?

Would this kid have actually done anything without the FBI egging him on and providing the bomb, even if it was a "bomb"? Did the FBI encourage his threats? I think the feds love the idea of catching terrorists so much that they will create one themselves. That certainly has to be easier and more fun than looking for the real thing.

I think he's good looking too. Sad to be a murderer with the face of an angel. Does it hurt less or more to be blown up by a handsome man?
Being able to see that a person is nice looking doesn't necessarily make your judgement less sound. Only if you give that person more benefit of the doubt because of their looks. See how well it worked in Obama's case and how it works against Mitt.
Don't hate me because I'm beautiful.

It had to be said and I'm always here with Inga to fulfill your cliche needs.

Weird. Another guy named Mohammad tries to blow shit up. What are the chances?

Next guy will be a Lutheran for sure.

ditto Prarie W.

Why are we supposed to be afraid of this feckless little bastard who never should have gotten into the country to begin with?

Why are we not more afraid of the FB stinking I?

This must be the 25th time in a row they've recruited some clueless immigrant muslim, given him the "bomb" and then busted him.

This is security theater. The TSA is widely reviled here for efforts that are just about as worthless. But, of course, the TSA is bothering your granny so that's different.

What they do to this guy they'll do to you if it becomes expedient. The feds would be thanking this hapless moron if the truth were told for placing the power they have always craved more and more firmly into their grasp every day.

To me, a 21-year-old man seems like a kid, not that he isn't responsible for his crimes, but I think more like: that could be my son. What a beautiful son! He's a decade younger than my sons. I don't look on males that age as possible/fantasy sexual partners for me. But I appreciate masculine beauty, and this is one of the most beautiful faces I've seen in the news. I think it should be said. For one thing, it's sad to throw away a life with so much potential. I think a very beautiful person has special potential for achievement and happiness. For another thing, he has less reason to be hostile to humanity. I presume with a face like that other people have been unusually nice to you over the years. Why are you so negative? An ugly guy... you think: maybe life has been hard for him. This guy, not so much.

That's a slam on me, I take it? But how about if we punish this guy for what he did, not for what we are afraid he would do? You said, Sad to be a murderer with the face of an angel. He's not a murderer, unless I missed something, which is quite possible because I lost interest when I saw the FBI was involved. We all have our little quirks and mistrust of the feds is one of mine.

My point is that the FBI is knee deep in whatever this kid did. I'd like to know more.

Hagar said...

It is unlikely that he is innocent, but certain that he is a squirrel-headed kid that could have been scooped up and sent back home early on with little effort and expense, and he would just have looked the fool to his peers back home and elsewhere. Much more effective than making a martyr out of him.

It is amazing to me that the MSM plays along with this foolishness from the FBI.

It can't have anything to do with the impending election...

Ann, it's that poisonous religion that they're full of. The matter is surely more complex but the catylist is Islam.

It's catylizing another potent poison when it combines with the craving for power and is utilized with full Machiavellian by our own ruling class.

Catching a "terrorist" is good no matter who is elected because it's all about the money. Ginning up terrorist plots and "catching" someone means more money coming to the law enforcement agency.

Law enforcement doesn't care too much about who the president is because there isn't a politician alive (wait--Gary Johnson?) who doesn't love to demonstrate that he is tough on crime/terrorism by throwing money at LE.

That young girl in Pakistan who got shot by the Taliban is quite pretty and appealing. It seems to me that you have to override an awful lot of circuits to want to kill such a person.....You can always talk a young man into dying a glorious death for a noble cause, but how do you get someone to murder a pretty girl for your noble cause?

Kid had a great future clubbing in NYC. He could have transition into gigilo with a little experience.

.."But he did. Such a handsome lad too. Why would you throw you're life away?.."

The bigger question is 'How do these guys get in the country'? Why do they migrate to societies they hate?

"I think a very beautiful person has special potential for achievement and happiness."

Of course that's true, though few dare say it these days. But also great potential for disappointment and emptiness. This seems especially true where the beauty results in celebrity and fame.

Bob E, I'm saying I'm more concerned about the feds and their craving for and abuse of power than I am the third world muppets they keep busting for crimes the FBI enables and assists them to commit.

The domestic power politics is what scares me. If fools like this latest one didn't serve the purposes of powerful people here at home they would never be admitted to the country to begin with.

Even that's too brief. Events like this one just make me want to hide out in Idaho. And not because I'm worried I'll be blown up by the scary muppet, either.

edutcher said...

Who runs the FBI these days?

Also, who's the US Attorney for NY?

If we're going to ask if this is election-related (I had the same thought as Ann when I first heard of this), it might be good to know who the players are.

PS If he were Maureen Dowd's son or brother, he'd be Quazi MoDo.

I heard a piece about this on NPR this morning. They said that Nafis was the one who came up with this and that the FBI were careful to not suggest things to him, whatever was done was his idea. He came to the U.S. with an attack in mind.

Make sure to be afraid of anyone who is a Muslim. Even if they look like they're from the Middle East you should ask a nearby officer to interrogate them.

Why do we need this kind of diversity in our country?

Pastafarian said...

Althouse: "For another thing, he has less reason to be hostile to humanity."

Isn't the reason he's hostile painfully obvious?

Recall Quasi's own words: "I don’t want something that’s like small. I just want something big..."

So he tries to martyr himself in a way that will ensure him 72 virgins.

Because virgins won't make fun of his tiny little pecker.

This couldn't be more obvious, Althouse. Up your game!

William R. Hamblen said...

Of course it is a setup. It is far easier to find some would be martyr than it is to find a real bomb builder. The bomb builders are probably thanking the FBI for winnowing out the inept for them.

Pastafarian said...

I honestly believe that small-dick obsession is the primary driving force behind jihadism.

Why else do you suppose they hide their women under a burkha? They know those women would leave them for a normally-endowed man in a heartbeat.

And what do they attack? Skyscrapers, phallic symbols.

I've given up hoping for a Muslim reformation. I think what we need to do long-term to end jihadism is to develop a drug that makes your penis 2 or 3 inches longer than before. Then put it into their water like fluoride.

Either that, or a drug that makes a man THINK his penis is 2 or 3 inches longer. Maybe we could give them bifocals, with a really strong magnification on the lower lens.

Darrell said...

Maybe we could give them bifocals, with a really strong magnification on the lower lens.

Or for an even bigger prick, you can send them phx.

Darrell said...

Did you read the article. The only reason the bomb didn't go off was that the FBI sold him inert chemicals rather than the ammonium nitrate he wanted. He sounded pretty competent doing the rest.

Levi Starks said...

We need some terrorist video games, where young muslim men with too much testosterone can work out their frustrations in ways that don't actually involve trying to kill people. You see the problem isn't that they're bad kids, its that their mindset leaves them with no viable options for success or greatness except in grand displays of violence against those who do not embrace the teachings of Mohammed.
