Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg — "Is she about to retire, everyone asks, to permit President Obama to name her replacement?"

Linda Greenhouse writes with what sounds like authority: "The answer is no, she’s healthy and loves her job."

...and she can't retire because Obamacare is about to explode her health care costs...

Does it matter if Choom replaces one Lefty with another?

Frankly, I think all the "why doesn't Ginsburg just die and be done with it?" from the Lefties last year brought out the old lady "I'll do it when I'm good and ready" contrariness in her.

There is little doubt that Linda Greenhouse knows the inner most thought of Ruth Buzzi Ginsburg.

Too bad, because Eric Holder might be available.

Liberals tried to push Ginsburg out in Obama's first term! Either she was optimistic about Obama's re-election chances, or she really likes power, even more than Roe v. Wade

Good thing Ponce de Leon never discovered the fountain of youth. We'd be stuck with Justice Ginsburg for eternity!

In the future our Supreme Court Justices will be brains-in-a-jar, doing cartwheels on their robot bodies.

Yes, there is a problem here, an ancient one. It's called "waiting for your bad king to die."

While we would miss her writings, we could predict her votes with certainty. I can't imagine there is not a healthy 48 year old passing all the litmus tests for Pat Leahy.

I remember when Ruth Bader Ginsburg was on the D.C. Circuit and everyone I knew called her conservative. "What a disappointment!" they cried.

I wish I could explain to you where I've been living all for the last quarter century.

I also remember when people said she could have been the first woman on the Supreme Court but now she's too old!

I remember when the news came out that Clinton had nominated her, and I was delighted. I told my neighbor I was so glad Clinton picked a woman, and she said she didn't realize that people cared about that anymore. We already had a woman on the court, after all. I retorted that it will stop being interesting when we have 5 women on the court -- proportional to the population.

You and your Identity Group politics. Do you truly believe that racial/gender/religious bean-counting is an effective way to govern the nation, or to decide who is qualified to do important jobs?

LOL. You're new around here, aren't you?

It's astounding that Althouse makes the 5 women/ proportional on the court comment without irony, proud as punch that primitivism is ascendant.

Ever notice how much she looks like Norman Bates' mother. Perhaps she died several years ago. Her staff might be moving her mummified body around and writing her opinions. It was done before with Rehnquist.....Since the majority of Americans are now dead it is only fair that we have a few dead people on the Supreme Court.

If she were truly progressive wouldn't she have siad that it would not be an issue until we had 190 years of all female justices? Looking for 5 female justices seems to be a moderate measure of the equality of the system.

By God President Palin would have been awesome. Not the least of which, feminism would have shat itself, keeled over, and died.

And the misogyny would have been amazing. "President Whore" would have been the least of it. The liberal hypocrisy would have been exposed for all to see. And they would have been robbed (bamboozled!) out of their Great Feminist Moment. Just thinking of all the prune faces gives me the giggles.

And she would have been so awesome as Commander-in-Chief. I still have hopes.
