"Bieber's entourage blocked off local streets to create a drag strip for him...."

"A police report described at least four black Cadillac SUV's blocking roads in front and behind two sports cars, causing backed up traffic."
"He basically didn’t want to comply with none of the officers on the scene, questioning every order that they gave him. He wouldn’t take his hands out of his pockets. He was very uncooperative with the officers at the scene, using profanity."
Justin Bieber is 19 and a Canadian citizen. The linked article quotes a defense lawyer (not his lawyer) saying that with the combination of DUI, resisting arrest, and speed exhibition there is "avery real possibility of jail time":
"The message prosecutors will want to send is that he can’t go barnstorming around the country, renting exotic cars and drag racing in the streets, putting other lives at risk. That’s not conduct the courts are going to just allow to happen... As far as immigration, there’s very little chance he’d be deported over this. These aren’t considered crimes of moral turpitude. This isn’t burglary, murder or grand theft. Typically, this isn’t something that would get you deported."
Wait! It says he caused backed up traffic. That's Chris Christie level moral turpitude!

I guess he wants to run for Mayor of Toronto... (Getting this joke out of the way early.)

Entourages are parasites.

Well, ya know, he ain't FAT like Christie.

He sounds like a punk that needs to get his ass thoroughly kicked a time or two.

This will end well.

Why not deportation and life-time baring from the USA?

Yawn. I won't miss him.

Get him out. You can't come here, block our roads, and drive around intoxicated. Let his own country deal with him until he straightens up.

Think Hannah Montana's morph into Miley Cyrus and consider that his latest escapade along with the recent harassment of his neighbor may be calculated moves to prepare the ground for the future.

His core fanbase for his original shtick was and is historically very age delineated. It keeps replenishing itself but he himself is 19 and is rapidly aging away from their notice. So he needs to reinvent himself as a badboy type to appeal to those fans aging along with him and perhaps gain some older fans never entranced by his image of pubescent innocence.

He was in a drag race, doing... 60. Will this do more to confirm everyone's preconceptions about Bieber, or to confirm everyone's preconceptions about Canadians?

At least he wasn't caught twerking in drag.

According to this from Think Progress, immigrants get deported for exactly this sort of crime all the time.

Noooo.......his biggest crime is convincing whoever into thinking he has a talent worth $130 million

"life-time baring"

Excuse me for doing typo humor…

But that sounds like a cruel and (especially) unusual punishment.

I sentence you to remain naked for the rest of your life.

Especially in Canada.

I've never heard in its entirety a song by Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, or Kanye West. I suppose it's possible that one or two of them really have talent, but, if they do, it doesn't overshadow their flair for the obnoxious.

Well, my generation produced Phil Spector. Bieber has to go quite a way in order to best him in obnoxious qualities.

As a Canadian, he could lose his right to enter the US if convicted of a felony. I think.

That would kill his career. No more shows, no more movies, probably no more TV.

OT but I could not let the crack pass:

As for the mayor of Toronto, he is actually the sane one. The other guy was even crazier.

But the other guy was establishment so gets a pass. Apparently Ford, for all his craziness is doing a good job as mayor and is well supported.

"Not much of a crime..."

"Through the Vatican?"

"Kinky!"

Well, Bieber may not be as bad a person as Phil Spector, but he also isn't as good an artist as Phil Spector. And he's getting progressively worse as a person without getting any better artistically.

If you think having a DUI is not a big thing in Canada you are mistaken. He might slip the noose here but the Canadians have very harsh penalties. Check out getting into Canada if you have a DuI on your resume.

I feel bad for the kid, and hope he gets his shit together. Obviously was not ready for the big time and everything that comes with it.

Come on, all of us were a little crazy when we first hit puberty. So it is with Justin Bieber.

It's an attempt to remake himself. Do you think he will shave his pubes and start riding around in limos with Brittney and Lindsey?

With no panties on?

"Justin Bieber was released Miami-Dade County jail Thursday after being arrested on charges of drag racing while drunk and high before dawn."

I understand the charge of drag racing while drunk, but that second charge must be just one of those strange Florida laws.

Yep. I've had to deal with border officers many times and they are assholes. They can deny you entry even if you were just a passenger in a vehicle ticketed for DUI. Or for any reason they decide. They have complete discretion who enters and who doesn't.

The Biebs dad (age 38) was in the "black cars" that blocked the traffic. A great role model, indeed!

Let us banish him to Moose Jaw for the rest of his miserable life & be done with it!

On aesthetic grounds, if for no other reason.

I frequently cross the border into Canada. You can't get into Canada if they find a DUI on your record.

I have no idea how Canada has access to Washington state driving records, but their are plenty of horror stories of people being denied entry.

Send the little puke north, and slam the door!

Good thing they have a designated spokesperson...you wouldn't want someone without a good grasp of the language representing the department!

He reminds me of King Joffrey on Game of Thrones. Can't you just see this little punk, drunk on not just booze but his own money and power, demanding his minions set up a drag race for his amusement?

Send this little shit back to Canada.

I was an immigration paralegal for years, specializing in professionals executives and scientists. Never did anything remotely related to the entertainment business. From what I hear from paralegals that do that kind of work, it mainly consists of doing a lot of "criminal waiver" work.

In other words, lots of petitions that ask USCIS to please overlook the criminal history of celebrities. In my job, at times, I would have to struggle with petitions I had to write making a certain foreign national sound like a manager - when it was a stretch (managers in the US in L-1A status get green cards faster hence the effort).

I don't know what is worse: helping Microsoft create the thickest layer of middle management on the face of the earth (everyone is a fucking manager at Microsoft) OR having to write things like: "Please overlook Hugh Grant's blowjob with a hooker."

When my daughter was in junior high she won tickets to a Beiber concert....cue ear piercing scream. That was my first and last brush with teenage hysteria over a pop star. Let's not forget the Beatles engendered the same reaction in young girls.

The kid is nineteen years old with tons of disposable money and all that comes with it. Girls, cars homes, hangers-on. Hopefully he grows up before it's to late.

He'll plead out, and they'll let him. He'll do public service, he'll be re-educated, and he'll pay a huge fine.

But another condition of his probation ought to be a prohibition against seeing or associating with strippers or others who exchange remuneration for their company.

Are you out of first gear at 60mph in one of those things? I know in my hundreds of thousands dollars cheaper BMW I'm still in 2nd gear at 60. He's drag racing wrong.

Of course not. "Didn't want to comply with none of the officers" means he wanted to comply with at least one of the officers.

It is just that he couldn't decide which ones, and cops are impatient, so...

Bear with me on this, but:

Fans of atmospheric or new-agey music should try listening to this.

It is a Justin Bieber song played at one-eighth speed. I know, I know -- but seriously, check it out.
