The shimmy, part 2.

Earlier today, I raised the question whether that shoulder thing that Hillary Clinton did during the debate...

... is properly called the shimmy. I took the position that what makes that shoulder shake a shimmy is if you're doing it to jiggle your breasts.

In the comments, MayBee said: "Yes! That's why it was so creepy!"

Tim in vermont said: "She sort of reminds me of Ursula in The Little Mermaid as she sang 'Poor deplorable souls'":

EDH linked to a "Gilligan's Island" clip of Ginger singing "I Want to Be "Loved by You" and asks: "If Hillary is Ginger, does that make Trump MaryAnn? If so, Trump wins." But I just want to say Ginger only wishes she could shimmy like her sister Marilyn:

She couldn't aspire to anything higher... than the presidency!

Noton Yalife and Earnest Prole both say: "That's a Bingo!"

Hillary as Ursula? I'll buy that. I suppose Trump is that annoying seagull, then?

Talk, comment, and discussion about dancing is the dumbest form of public discussion.

Please, let's stop it. Ballet, whatever. Please stop.

The shimmy may have been some sort of alternative signal to Lester, just like the nose scratching! :)

If she did that during a meeting in an office setting at work the rest of the women in the room would eye each other and think, oh please, give it a rest already. Because we would know it was meant to be cutesy for the men in the room. The men, I think, would show no reaction because they wouldn't want to encourage her.

This is Hillary telling us, don't believe your lying eyes telling you I'm a sack of grain loaded into an SUV the other day, I'm President Perky Doll! Wooo!

A proper shimmy has the shoulders move back and forth horizontally. Hillary's are gyrating vertically. It really is the action of an excited dog piddling on the floor.

What kind of grown woman with aspirations to the presidency -- who wants to stand across from world leaders -- makes either version of this move? Aaaaargh!

Hillary's demeanor and actions were well stage-managed to ridicule and laugh at Trump and make people forget what she was saying - well-worn Democrat talking points.

If I were a SJW I'd make some clucking noises about how all the examples given so far seem to be white people...

Instead I'll just help out: ODB: Shimmy Shimmy Ya (lyrics NSFW)

Hard to believe this was not planned. Hard to understand why. It was sort of cute, but it is so hard for Hillary to successfully play cute that it probably overall is fail. The people who might appreciate cute, i.e., guys, largely hate her and will not see and certainly not be moved by cute.

Her smiles so often when Trump finished also were obviously planned. I don't think they worked either because they did not seem sincere. I'm sure Hillary must sincerely smile at some point in her life, but virtually never in her public appearance.

It is sort of like Cruz, whose smile was always phony. Except he also may never smile in private life either.

Could be another stroke, you never know with her.

There is a great shimmy example from a Martha Stewart Christmas from Saturday night live.

My first thought seeing it was she was having a "try the chai" moment. After watching the video clip I am left wondering if Ursula was modeled on HRC.

I think the apomorphine might have been wearing off.

As I said previously, it's as if (in the longer video clip, not the GIF) that she can't control it and it gets really weird at the end. Very similar to the try-the-chai-moment. And I'm not a Trump supporter.

She had likely practiced it for when he gave an off-the-rails rant. Then after one of his off-the-rails rants, she did it. It played well live with the audience and, I suspect, with anyone watching on television who isn't a Trump supporter.

An old friend of mine used to do a magic act that required a lot of battery packs strappped to his body. Under stage lighting, sometimes he would sweat a bit too much and one of the batteries would short out.

He would shimmy a lot like Hillary did in that clip.

Occam's razor says she is on battery power.

Dr. K, I hate to deprive anybody of their fun, but I wish that you will be entirely serious all the time when addressing the potential medical condition or conditions that affect Hillary Clinton. I remain convinced that there is something seriously wrong and I don't want to get off into tangents about how she had a soul-ectomy or anything silly like that.

Do you regard that so called shimmy type of movement, which appeared voluntary in the short clip, as a legitimate symptom of neurological disease, a twitch or tremor? Sometimes the things she does are so silly, such as her gaping at the balloon drop, I wonder if she's having some kind of episodes of senility. But that's not Parkinson's, right? Is she mugging in order to cover the symptoms? Is she insane? See, it's so confusing; a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

The full video makes it look like Clinton's manuover became at some point involuntary and tremorous.

There is a fine line between a shimmy and a shudder....

She shimmies, I shudder.
