I thought this was the guy who was so enamored with putting his name on everything...

Here's how The Hill put it:
President Trump on Friday announced two new executive orders aimed at tackling long-standing concerns around trade enforcement, but he left the room before actually signing the orders....

What do you think was most likely happening here?

Trump looks tired. It's a tough job.

BFD. The guy is working about 20 hours per day, seven days a week. Pick, pick, pick.

Trump has accomplished more POSITIVE things in less than 100 days than Obama did in 8 long years.

I think Trump had to go to the bathroom! He told Pence he'd get it later, or something like that. It was a time thing.

I don't think Pence made Trump look bad, or messed up. I think Trump was just running for it.

I like the way Trump has accomplished NEGATIVE things.

Less doing. More nothing. That's what I want.

I give him credit for what he has NOT done. Where are the big bungles? He DIDN'T get that health thing done. That was good, no? Nothing military has happened. No foreign affairs blowups. Etc.

Item one: Trump has begun to tear down the CAGW scam. That single positive thing will save billions.

Notice how that is SUBTRACTIVE and further supports my argument that his accomplishments are NEGATIVE.

Oh, Trump will fix health care. Where is it written that POTUS gets only one shot at the issue if four years? Many times in one possession, a college basketball team will score on the second or third attempt.

A Presidency about Nothing ! Brilliant !

I'll concede the point. The constitution is a document of mostly negative rights and that document made America great.

Only in the minds of the true believers. Same kind of people who didn't believe smoking caused cancer.

That's what a good Vice President does for you.

The "negative agenda" is the correct way to see it. His whole approach is epitomized in the "2 for 1 regulation trade-in" scheme. Conceptually clean, brilliant marketing, and self-executing. Once that code is injected into the bureaucracy, it begins to consume itself. Of course, reality is never that simple; but it's a great start.

Yep, way to go Trump ... don't break anything.

Wouldn't worry too much now ... Trump has almost zero support with enough Republicans and Democrats to get anything of substance passed through the Senate which is where legislation happens.

Only place where he may be able to do his own-thang is to start a war but even then Congress might have something to say about that.

Muslim Ban, Trumpcare, Infrastructure, the big beautiful Wall, 'Jobs, jobs, jobs' and so on ... nothing happening. Move on, nothing to see here.

Your analogy completely fails. Real scientists had mice smoke cigarettes. The mice got lung cancer and died. People smoked cigarettes for years. They died of lung cancer. Doctors performed autopsies. Historic proof of cause and effect.

On the CAGW scam, academics construct models and make predictions about future events. That's not science. It has the veneer of science because it uses computers and numbers.

The Professor must be happy that the Fundamental Transformation of the United States of America has stopped. Like Nigel Farage is happy that the fundamental transformation of Great Brittain has just stopped. Globalists lose and Free men win.

I just pray that the Junker/Soros/Obama gang can not succeed in sponsoring Wisconsin's exit from that old American Union. We need our Norwegians.

No, but I notice a lot more stories lately that suggest we're headed for a showdown with North Korea. I don't think that's because of Trump, but if it's not, then it may be beyond his power to prevent the stuff from hitting the fan.

Your memory fails. People denied that smoking caused cancer for decades after reasonable levels of proof had been provided. Same dynamic, there was money in denying that smoking caused cancer just as there is money in denying that CO2 contributes to global warming.

Trump has single handedly stopped the tsunami of Fakes: Fake News, Fake Science, Fake Cold war, Fake Mexican voting rights, and Fake claim the Muslims are another Religion.

No wonder both political Parties and all News Media, except for part of Fox News, are counter attacking Trump 24/7.

David Begley: "academics construct models and make predictions about future events."

To be fair, they also show amazingly correlated graphs between global temperatures and CO2 concentration stretching from the present to a million years ago. Never mind Henry's Law, don't worry about which leads which by a few hundred years on that timescale, and for heaven's sake don't call attention to your error bars. Don't ever use the phrase "noise to signal ratio" - people might ask, Isn't that supposed to be "signal to noise"?

Just look at how perfectly they match! Good scientists look at correlation, posit a cause, and demand, What else could it possibly be?

Beloved Commenter AReasonableMan said...

In reality, all the early evidence that smoking caused cancer was correlative. It was epidemiological evidence.

You forgot to add the liberal talking point that some of the same people are on the same wrong side.

Please time travel time to 2100, gather the temps, return to 2017 and tell us how it turned out.

BTW, defining the keeping of Ocare as nothing and also defining getting rid of environmental/internet regulations as nothing is quite SOMETHING. Everything, incl something, is great, as long as it's CALLED nothing. As if we wouldn't notice the obvious slight of hand.

Of course it's buried in the internets somewhere but I recall Obama 'signing' an 'executive order' or two that were clearly beyond his executive power but he still had a signing ceremony for appearances. Then they threw the order in the trash since that's what it was worth.

There was some correlative evidence that collective farms did not work, but it took a while for the lesson to sink in. There's no reason to believe, however, that the principles of collective farming would not work if applied to medicine.

Curious, how Matt Drudge didn't put this above the banner on today's Drudge Report. It's almost as if Drudge was constantly pushing all of the embarrassing Obama stories (and there have been plenty) and ignoring all of the embarrassing Trump stories (and they are even weirder than the Obama stories).

"Only in the minds of the true believers. Same kind of people who didn't believe smoking caused cancer."

ARM, this one amused me more than most of your comments.

Smoking and cancer have been connected by DATA, (you know that stuff that truth is made of?) since 1944.

You really don't know what you are talking about here, more so than usual.

Evarts Graham, who had done the first successful resection of a lung for cancer in 1933, , wrote one of the earliest associations between smoking and lung cancer.

Although initially impressed with the epidemiologic relationship between smoking and lung cancer, Dr. Graham's laboratory experiments established the presence of potent carcinogens in cigarette smoke.

He, himself was addicted to nicotine and died of lung cancer.

The AMA did some surveys of its membership over the years when its membership was still representative of American physicians. The number of smokers declined well ahead of the trend in the general public.

Dr's knew from the 1920s that smoking had no beneficial effects and just might be cancer causing, As for CO2. It doesn't effect the climate in much of a dangerous way that methane does.
It helps if you're skepticle. Especially if the people pushing their sceance want you to fork over money.
Chemtrails. Now that's something to worry about!

Ah, this is why he left the room so abruptly. I knew there was more to the story.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/31/politics/donald-trump-executive-order-signing-walk-out/

"(CNN)President Donald Trump walked out of an executive order signing ceremony Friday -- without actually signing the orders.

During the signing ceremony, White House pool reporters asked Trump questions about his former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who has offered to testify on Russian involvement in the US election in return for immunity from prosecution.
The President ignored the questions and moved to another room, only to be followed by Vice President Mike Pence, who picked up the folders containing the two executive orders."

I'm one of those that deny that smoking causes lu g cancer. At least for any non-bizarro definition of the word "causes"

It does double the risk. From about 4.5% to about 9%.

But when only a small percentage of smokers get cancer and the majority, 90% doesn't, using the word "causes" is just ignorant

Quibble but non-smokers do get lung cancer and the reasons are still unknown.

This is the classic paper on the association.

Published in 1950.

This is from Evarts Graham, who would die of lung cancer and who smoked. He knew he was addicted. It was published in 1951.

You know, I would like instead to learn what was being signed. Did the press forget to cover this?

Rosalyn C. said...

I watched the clip and as Trump was finishing his remarks a reporter started barking questions about Flynn and Trump decided on the fly he just didn't want to deal with the guy and his obnoxious questions. The public signing is window dressing and has no impact whatsoever except to announce the EO, and if the disrespect from the media becomes the focus of the event then what is the point of the public display of his signature? And then the media were all asking, why didn't he sign them and acting like they were deprived. Totally unconscious and rude, that's our journalists these days.

So I would have voted, "None of the above" on the poll had it been an option.
