"Misspoke."

What, are you going to say she lied?

Shouldn't you also label this post liar.

It already *has* a Hillary tag, dude.

... liar.

Oh. For a minute there I thought you said lawyer.

The Clinton campaign says Senator Hillary Clinton may have “misspoke” recently when she said she had to evade sniper fire when she was visiting Bosnia in 1996 as first lady.

They want the past participle. Either that or the NYT reporter is from the South.

Automatic_Wing said...

I know it's wrong, but sometimes I question Hillary's status as a "world-class genius".

You misspeak when saying "I fly into the airport on the 19th" and it was the 18th. Saying you were "under sniper fire" at the airport is a bold face lie to make you more brave or serious to futher your political ambitions. Been under sniper fire and Yes you do recall those moments. Senator Clinton's Secret Service detail didn't allow her to get within 10 miles of a Serbian squirrel hunter much less land and deplane on an unsecured airstrip.

Daryl said...

Did Hillary "misspeak" when she brushed aside Sinbad's remarks by saying that he was just a "comedian"?

Did Hillary misspeak when she said she played a role in the Northern Ireland peace accords?

Did Hillary misspeak when she said she opposed NAFTA from the very beginning?

Did Hillary misspeak when she said she supported intervention in Rwanda during the crisis there?

Did Hillary misspeak when she said she could take the 3AM phone call because of her years of experience of waking up next to the president?

Kirby Olson said...

I don't see how this gives her "presidential" experience. If it does, then the whole army in Iraq would be ahead of her in terms of the experience needed, right?

All you need is a bullet to fly past your head and you're now ready for the presidency?

Does she think that that's all it is?

Freder Frederson said...

Well, if the press absolutely positively refuses to say the president lies, then Hillary deserves the same courtesy.

It is *seared* in her memory. Is bull in the same category as lying or is it in its own?

AlphaLiberal said...

I think it's probably an exaggeration as there's a core of truth to it, but I'm so tired of this minor stuff getting loads of attention while important stuff gets short-shrift. If someone calls it a lie I won't bitch.

The primary is over and Hillary lost. Someone tell the media!

Poor Hillary, when she has to debate McCain the beat down on this is gonna be a special uTube moment. So many angles he can use.

"Hillary, a shot several miles away is not a threat, unless its a SAM. I know."

"Senator, dropping on your knees and crawling away when the girl and the comic were unfazed showed gravitas how?"

"Senator, are you sure that it wasn't a US service member or your Security detail that squeezed off the shot? They did have to spend all those hours in the plane with you?"

Hoosier Daddy said...

“It is possible in the most recent instance in which she discussed this that she misspoke in regard to the exit from the plane, but there is no question if you look at contemporaneous accounts that she was going to a potential combat zone, that she was on the front lines.”

I laughed so hard at this I spilled my beer and scared the cat.

Front lines, I mean that is rich.

Peter V. Bella said...

She lied. She is a bald faced liar. Misspoke is Hillary Billary talk for lying.

Hoosier Daddy said...

“There was a saying around the White House that if a place was too small, too poor, or too dangerous, the president couldn’t go, so send the First Lady.

Yeah I bet there was.

I wonder if Hillary thought it was strange when gunfire erupted why her SS detail ducked.

I'm with you bro, I still can't believe the press refuses to say Bill lied when he said, "I did not have sex with that woman!" I mean, come on, even Bill himself says he lied, or is it misspoke?

DaLawGiver said...

In the same bulging vein, did Bill ever really use the word lie when he admitted his untruthfulness?

Why is it when people are caught telling whoppers, it's always I was untruthful, not forthcoming, or something to that effect? Why don't they just say, I lied, I'm sorry?

What wimps they all are.

Is this a battle I see before me,
The sword toward my hand? Come, let
me clutch thee:
I have thee not, and yet I see thee still.
Art thou not, fatal vision, sensible
To feeling as to sight? or art thou but
A battle of the mind, a false creation,
Proceeding from the heat-oppressed
brain?

All you Swiftboaters out there (and you know who you are!) once again are running amok. However, you overlook the most important question by far: What kind of mother places her young daughter in such grave danger by taking her on a perilous trip into a war zone--a trip that was seared (yes, seared!) in her memory?

Anonymous said...

According to Roger Clemens, the correct term is "misremembered."

The hope was she would not come back.

The woman is an abject liar--I would welcome any rebuttals from our lefties around here. But I bet none of those folks will step forward into the breach.

Elliott A said...

Just the words of a megalomaniacal sociopath.

By the way, a southerner would have said, "misspoke herself". Give credit where credit is due.

Fen said...

This was a stupid remark for Hillary to make in the first place. How does taking sniper fire lend her executive experience?

There was a saying around the White House that if a place was too small, too poor, or too dangerous, the president couldn’t go, so send the First Lady.

Does anyone else think, "Wow, Bill must have really wanted to get rid of her!" when they hear this?

I thought of Nixon being spat on as VP in Venezuela, before his motorcade was attacked by rioters. Then I wondered, "What kind of duty was Billy saving Gore for?"

Roger J. said...

Some of you are far too kind. In the south, we would say "bless her heart..."

But the nasty truth remains: the woman was lying like a rug and there aint NO amount of spin that is going to change that fact. Just wait till John McCain and the RNC finish up with Ms Clinton.

Again: any of you libs want to defend MS C on this one? Crikets chirping..................

The only way I'd vote for Hillary! would be if she was La Pequena Hillary!.

(warning...she bears a striking resemblance.)

You won't find me defending Clinton on this.

That would be like a conservative trying to defend the Medicare Part D entitlement.

Well, to be fair there were U.S. soldiers there and at least one might have been trained as a sniper.

After that the claim gets a bit thin.

I'm beginning to form the idea that politics tends to corrupt. If these candidates aren't careful we're going to start getting suspicious. Wut?

Canaveral Dan said...

While much of the news media continues to pretend that Hillary is still in the race they rub her nose in all droppings she has left on the trail. Kind of sad, however, on a brighter note: am I being to optimistic to hope that this will be the end of the Clintons on the national stage?

ballyfager said...

She won't even be embarrassed about this dustup. At the end of the day, all the political class in this country has is cast iron gall.

Either this disgusting woman, or Barack Obama, or John McCain is going to be the next President. There isn't a good choice in there anywhere.

Ameryx said...

I think people are missing the bigger story here: Hillary's Undaunted Courage. In spite of the hail of bullets and mortar fire, she went through the greeting ceremony with aplomb. Just off-camera, people were running, ducking and covering. But Hillary stayed focused - like a laser!- on the task at hand.

Surely, all of America now recognizes her qualifications to be Commander-in-Chief.

I'm with Bob...Senator Clinton's Secret Service detail didn't allow her to get within 10 miles of a Serbian squirrel hunter much less land and deplane on an unsecured airstrip.

IF there had been sniper fire, the SS would not have allowed her to land.

IF there had ever been sniper fire, the SS would have had her in a vest. Just look at the way the SS and the Army dress protectees in Iraq as an example.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt

With the Clintons, don't bother using the word "lie". It'll get lawyerspeaked, just like "is".

Use bullshit. That word is not susceptible to lawyerspeak.

Fen said...

Sorry, I missed the intitial point Hillary was trying to make with her sniper lie. Someone please clue me in - why did Hillary bring this up to begin with?

Fen said...

Okay, according to NYTs "she has been using the episode as an example of her foreign policy bona fides."

wth?

Bill would never let her do something so stupid. He must have been away with his interns when she plotted this.

This morning I walked down the driveway, alone, to get my mail. I was attacked by three unicorns. Thank God I had my boomerang with me and was able to eventually save the world.

Fen said...

Allens, striking a unicorn with a blunt object is a war crime, as outlined in the 1198 Gnome Convention. Thanks [kinda] for saving the world, but we must now haul you away to the ICC.

amr said...

This lie was exposed in the blogosphere by military personnel who were there. This was, I believe, once her book came out explaining the danger she faced in Bosnia during the USO trip But apparently the media ignored those and their own reports and someone had to eventually find the video showing it was a lie. I would like to know where the video came from. The very media that sometimes asked her about this could not find their own video shots. Amazing? No part of their agenda, I suppose.

blake said...

Funny story: Being reviled and attacked is not the same as being vetted.

If the Dems think that all the dirt that can possibly be dug up on Hilary has been dug up, I believe they're grossly mistaken.

Roost on the Moon said...

A quote from her campaign: "There is no question if you look at contemporaneous accounts that she was going to a potential combat zone, that she was on the front lines."

They're really letting the wrong thing go, here. Exaggerating your own past bravery is a completely understandable, human thing to do. Posing for pictures on the "front lines" of a dangerous "combat zone" with an 8 year girl is positively ghoulish.

I am waiting for the April suprise. "Hillary Clinton has stated that she was the first female infantry officer in the United States Army. She served with honor leading secret missions during the Viet Nam war. She was highly decorated. The files will be released along with her income taxes."
