"Bush portrait label assailed."

Touching vigilance in the effort to deny the 43rd President the least speck of honor.

Once again, the Left shows their class.

Yes, I too was moved by the emotive power of Bernie Sanders' cri de coeur.

Now if only he'd stuff his hollow head into a mouldering 'Johnny on the Spot'.

It’s comforting to know a U.S. Senator has time to kibitz.

All is well.

So Bernie Sanders believes the war in Iraq would have happened with or without 9/11? Interesting.

The answer to this accuser should recieve is,"What I have written, I have written". For the Bush Derangement clack there never was any war. That's always comforting to know. I suppose those guys are the charter members of their own religion of false peace.

"A spokesman at the National Portrait Gallery told me that a response to Sanders is being prepared"

I didn't realize that extending a middle finger takes such preparation, but I admire their thoroughness.

This is front page news here in Vermont.

Well, the theme of today is supposed to be "not as alike"... but I just got done reading the thread where atheists want "so help me god" taken out of the inaugural ceremony.

Me, I'm seeing similarities, not differences: a bunch of crybabies who want to obliterate anything that differs with their worldview.

Bernie Sanders is almost enough to make one think the Civil War was a mistake.

And you have only yourselves to blame. What are you people thinking when you keep sending this asshole back to the Senate? That all the other States (and Commonwealths) will think you're cool and edgy?

There's a big difference between Bernie Sanders and Hugo Chavez, if only one could think what it is.

I hope the response to Bernie Sanders includes the phrase "and the horse you rode in on".

There is ample evidence to support that.

"Mummers" was my first thought on this post, too!

A theme.

Bernie Sanders is a fascist.

EE-I-EE-I-O.

Just like all the left, he is a fascist.

EE-I-EE-I-O

Ccompensating for his small liberal gentailia,
Trying to prove that he's someone important,
Bernie Sanders is a facsist.

The National Portrait Gallery is entirely to blame for this. They could have chosen text for the label that didn't directly target a huge political issue. If Bush's honor comes from linking September 11 and Iraq, then it is rightly denied.

Why not a label that reads:

George Walker Bush
43rd President of the United States of America
2001-2009

The same kind of people who told us that Iraq II would have happened without 9/11 also told us that the current administration would bomb Iran if given a chance.

And now we hear that the administration was given a chance and said 'no, thank you.'

Oh, well.

Consider 95% of federal museum management is lefty Dem, I suspect this was a setup.
They're taking "led to" out of the label.

That complaint is mind-numbingly stupid, even for a Senator.

Here's a little hint, Senator Sanders - that the 9/11 attacks "led to" the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq is not up for debate, let alone false.

That the 9/11 attacks were the impetus for the wars does not require the claim (never made by the Administration) that Iraq was "linked to 9/11".

Indeed, the President certainly "cited" the 9/11 attacks when pressing the case for action in Iraq (in accordance with the US police of "regime change in Iraq", which was set before he took office) - but he cited it as an example of what happens when terror-supporting states are ignored, and warned against ignoring Iraq until it took offensive action.

I suppose a mere Senator can't be bothered to pay attention to the actual arguments made by the President when making a case for War before Congress, unlike a mere constituent.

(And Daniel - why do you simply take Sanders' claim that the text "links" Iraq and 9/11 at face value?

It's my reading that it implies no such thing, nor can any reasonable interpretation establish it.)

I share your suspicions. This smells like the kind of games the artsy-fartsy crowd would play.

Because that would deny the lunatic right their meme that George Bush, the Messiah, saved us all from evil.

Well, there hasn't been an attack here in the homeland since 9/11/2009.

An uncomfortable fact, I realize. Don't worry, you guys will get your way.

Ron, I'm always impressed by your ability to perceive and delineate a class containing no members.

That said, I agree with Joe. Editorializing Presidential portraits strikes me as begging for partisan abuse either way.

You meant Wops 2001.

That was the Rip off space movie Dino Delaurentis made starring OJ Simpson and Chad Evertt and Marvin Hagler.

He would try to copy anything.

The painting's label now will say that the 43rd president's administration was marked by "the attacks on the U. S. Constitution, that led to the election in 2009 of The 44th President for hope and change."

The National Portrait Gallery: "Yes We Can."

A thrill has gone up Chris M's leg.

A chill has gone up my spine.
