"Look seans an old friend of mine and i didnt buy his performance at all..."

“... thought he did an average pretend acting like he was gay besides hes one of the most homophobic people i kno"

Mickey Rourke, lusting for the Oscar, texts about Sean Penn.

ADDED: You know, if I wanted to argue that the movie "Milk" is homophobic, I could think of a good 6 points.

when did sean penn stop beating his ex-wife when it comes to gay rights?

Two old and now tremendously ugly has-been movie stars debating about who loves gays more. Is this really worth talking about?

(I mean, unless, of course, we can somehow steer the topic to gay marriage, but that should be assumed.)

On the one hand, this is Mickey Rourke. On the other, this is Sean Penn.

And here I am in the middle, looking back a quarter century (and so) ago.

Shit. This doesn't mean I have to go up to the attic and dig out the Bukowski, does it?

Hmmm.

No, it doesn't.

I opened a greeting card today from a friend in San Francisco. I thought it was a Christmas card coming in late but it said nothing about Christmas, rather, its cover is a photocopy of a marriage certificate overlain with a photo of my friend and his significant other.

Pardon me, ha ha ha ha ha. For some reason that phrase strikes me as funny. Sorry. His partner, whom I've never met, but seems like a perfectly nice fellow. I know my friend is anyway, and he has always made fine choices in friends.

The inside of the card references hope for a new beginning for a new year and emphasizes equality in marriage for all people.

Touching, that.

I suppose. My friend doesn't understand how little I care, or what my thoughts are on the subject. He has never bothered to ask. Just assumed I'd be interested. I'm not. I consider him already married, surely he does too. This is the second time I've seen that certificate that says so. So. What's the fuss? Is marriage not a state of mind? Is it not a thing one practices? What need has anybody of state recognition? Or for church recognition for that matter, for a non church goer? No entiendo esto.

Please don't bother yourself trying to consígame comprender because I'm quite tired of the whole subject. I'm just that dull and dense.

The thing is, I must wonder, is every single greeting now considered a proper occasion to push on one's political agenda? I couldn't get a simple expression for a fulfilling good new year, oh no, it must come with a political statement attached.
A portion of me, that unpleasant portion, goes, "Oh, piss off, then."

I am a skeptic regarding Hollywood "publicity". Somehow, if you scratch deep enough, this little dust-up benefits both actors and both movies.

Same publicist? Same agency? Same film distrubutor? Hmmm?

We are suckers for buying into it.

This would not surprise me much. "Tolerance" may be just the newest fad to follow for him.

Mickey Rourke's face looks like someone tried to stuff 10 pounds of potatoes in a five pound sack.

Sean Penn always looks like he needs a good slap to knock away his ancient adolescent sneer.

Yes, he looks like David Gest, that gay guy Liza Minelli married... speaking of people pretending to be of the other sexual persuasion.

In interviews, Mickey Rourke says his face was destroyed during his brief boxing career... right.

Mickey Rourke vs. Sean Penn on who can out-gay whom. That would be a movie to watch.
