Madison Peace March: The Movie.

Meade shot the video. I edited. This is what it looked like today on State Street and up on the Capitol Square for the big anti-war march. I make an appearance in the final frames.

I like the cinematography, but the zombie genre has run it's course.

Meadhouse should try doing a spaghetti western...with real spaghetti, not that angel hair crap either.

What a bore!

And, also, the weather's changed. And, the "cold weather jackets" are out, again. (Better to live in Pasadena.)

Oh. I didn't know we were at war!

What a good parade needs, however, are floats.

Next time, "import" the Doo-Dah.

In the Sixties, a house just north from the Mixer's Bar, on the other side of Minneapolis' Washington Avenue, just down the street from Seven Corners, a student apartment had an inverted peace sign hanging in front with the words "Drop it" under the sign. Absolutely beautiful.

Plus the guys living there threw outstanding rent parties, all very well attended.

What Madison needs is some of that old time spirit of "fuck socialism," just drop it.

Maybe not in Madison, but there's certainly something to take note of with these demonstrations. Check out what happened in Madrid today--I haven't seen anything quite that big in a while.

Hey Althouse, why don't you cover what's happening around the globe? It's pretty wild. You've also managed to ignore all of the insane police brutality that seems to accompany these protests.

This review will not fly. It is already forgotten.

Obama has been the most successful POTUS in our history.

I wonder how the Peace Protesters feel about the fact that MTV will be broadcasting all new episodes of "Beavis and Butthead"?

I'm looking forward to their take on current events, but I'm not sure how the Occupation movement will react.

Obviously, in production before OWS, but notice at the end of the clip how Beavis's cult worshipers repeat phrases just like the Occupiers.

This is what the mainstream media do: create fake videos.
We are tired of that.

That's too much noise for a peace march. The rote chanting? The musical band thingy? A mob is bad enough, but a loud mob...

How can you folks in Madison stand it? There are observers there-- including some sitting at what looks like an outdoor restaurant table-- and they all seem to act as if this terrorism of clamor is nothing unusual!

I would be plugging my ears; or, even better, I'd be getting away away far away from all that racket. So much awful terrible noise! If these people were really serious about peace, they would have a silent march, walking with solemnity of Buddhist monks... it'd be peace and, you know, quiet.

What would Bill Cunningham say of this crowd?

The cliches really don't change, do they?

Yes, bring the boys home, so we can have ZeroCare and another stimulus.

Also, what bag said, about Westerns.

PS Nice leather jacket, Madame.

Did I miss the obligatory "Hey-Hey-Ho-Ho....." chant?

Usual suspects in the usual place at the usual time. At least we know where they are.

LOVE the Ringmaster Ned jacket on the guy with the drum :)

Oh, no! The return of the hearse skirt!

Hmmm.Peace is for us, but war is for them. Sounds like a trick to me.

How do the "Raging Grannies" differ from "Angry White Men?"

One is good and the other is bad. Why is that?

Looks like the Wisconsin chapter of World Revolution is getting warmed up for the currency crisis riots scheduled to be started in the Greek, Italian, Spanish and Portugese 99%ers.

Obama is proud, very proud, of his work here.

Of course this only proves that the Wisconsin cadre thinks for itself.

The absence of naming names, i.e., Obama, struck me.

Instead: "End the war and tax the rich." Uh, okay.

What about, end the war and cut taxes?

The Revolution never comes from the workers. They are too busy.

It always comes from the rich intellectual's kids determined to one up Daddy.

But killing people and stealing their stuff has been a great tradition since Gengis Khan perfected it.

The key is leadership in DC which can either incite the mobs or stand them down.

That is a wide gulf. Obama is intentionally dividing the mob he tells to kill the rich, from the private property owning workers who actually are his targets.

Obama's Revolution has been designed to knock out the Pax Americana that has frustrated the Nazis comeback since 1945.

Yes, there are enemies and we are in a war.

What about the unemployed? Idle hands devil's playground yada yada.

Was that an evil capitalist hawking T-shirts? Shame.

Had this protest been 4 years ago under the exact same economic and political circumstances, other than Bush being president, you would have seen numerous Bush is Hitler signs and such. None of these protesters have the intellectual honesty or acumen to protest the Chosen One. From their chants, it seems they want handouts more than anything else.

G Joubert said...

War and stopping it is one thing, and quite a bit all on it's own. A lot of people from all over the political spectrum can be reached on that one. But you mix in "tax the rich" and the pantload-toting Palestinian Solidarity signage, and it morphs into OWS, and you lose more than you gain. But maybe stopping the war(s) isn't really the point.

I saw the exact same protest march on State Street in 1983. I mean exactly. Anyway, I'm still waiting to reap the social justice benefits from that protest.

bagoh20 said...

Every day they spend marching makes them and their families poorer.

I'll bet 99% could get behind ending war and dictatorships.

You agree to that and then you talk economics.

If they were the devil's playground (workshop, actually), we could handle it OK.

But they're always the playground of guys named Lenin and (Godwin alert) Hitler.

sakredkow said...

No dictatorships.
