Rules bent, Carly's in.

"CNN reevaluated its criteria and decided to add a provision that better reflects the state of the race since the first Republican presidential debate in August. Now, any candidate who ranks in the top 10 in polling between August 6 and September 10 will be included."

Wheww. CNN was almost irrelevant.

With Fiorina added to the top tier and Gilmore not yet invited, the second tier debate at the Reagan Library is going to be rather limited: Santorum, Perry, Graham, Jindal and Pataki. Wonder if anyone will tune in.

Originally CNN claimed that FEC rules precluded them changing the rules after they were published. I always thought that was BS and it turned out it was. Especially when DWS said she could kick certain Dems out of the their debates if they deigned to go rogue and have unsanctioned ones. If the networks truly controlled who appeared, how could she do that?

This may hurt Hillary's feelings. CNN should milk that.

There's no good way to allocate a viable debate among 16 candidates, so I don't care one way or the other how it plays out.

However, I am looking forward to watching Carly call out Hillary as a Liar. It hits home like a good body shot, and puts me in a good mood.

So, in advance, I thank you Carly.

With Firoina in, who gets bumped down? Looks like either Paul or Christie.

Good. I hope she shines.

I want to see Carly go face-to-face with Trump, and let's see who can suck all the oxygen out of the tent.

suck....yeah, it's probably a micro-aggression. Of course, sucking should go both ways. So, those that don't suck, probably suck.

A dose of Carly Simon, I mean Fiorina, is just what we need. She is a sexy woman taking charge.

There will be 11 people at the debate, because CNN is adding, not replacing.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Fiorina and would self-promotingly link to my blog post on why, were it not still in draft form (and by "draft form," I mean, "I've written it in my head").

True, it goes against the usual requirement that a president have served some sort of elective office, and it would have been nice if she'd won her fight against Boxer in 2010, but let's call her proxy fight on behalf of the HP-Compaq merger a political campaign, and remember that being a CEO of a Fortune-20 firm for 5 years is more executive experience than the claim that BHO had experience because he managed his campaign (yeah, right).

I just realized that if you listen to Carly Fiorina for more than ten minutes straight, you develop a massive headache.

If by "you" Trump meant "I" that sounds about right.

PS Don't be a Trump chump

The Godfather said...

Glad she'll be there. I think that she's smart enough not to try to out-Trump Trump. I hope so, anyway. She needs to out-Carly him. Trump's comment about her giving him a headache is a perfect example of his style. If you're rude enough or crude enough you can always come up with an insult. Up to a point, that may work. But there comes a time when you have to get to substance. That's not Trump's strong suit -- although as long as there's a huge crowd of candidates, he may get away with what he's doing.

Anyway, I look forward to the debate.

rhhardin said...

There's nothing real in the debates except willingness to insult the media.

Nobody thinks their questions mean anything. They're narrative compliance tests.

Insults are the right response.

This present campaign is interesting in that all the candidates who have a good chance are outsiders.

If Mitt had won in 2012, we would not be seeing this insurgency. Obama won, how is another issue, and here we are.

I personally think we are about at 1789 in our history but others may be more optimistic.

I think we are headed to a major event, probably a terrorist attack but maybe a stock market crash like 1929.

What happens after that is still to be seen. It's nice to be old with most of my life behind me.

Anywho, Carly's Saks purchased farmer-gal outfit helped to distract from her work. Presumably she can't wear that to the big show. Too bad, for her.

CNN rules were stupid.

Fox would have hosted Carly at same time as the debated and Carly would have answered the same questions. Thus CNN would have lost ratings.

Guildofcannonballs said...

Until voters understand bending rules is equal to no rules, for the rule-benders alone not mere voters, rules will be bent at breakneck pace by all.

Not that anyone should concern themselves with any debate on CNN or anywhere else for that matter.

What Republicans should do is put huge billboards, bigger than normal with eye-catching shapes specifically not rectangle but with jutting upward elements actively contrasting the color scheme of the traditional rectangle billboard, in every poor neighborhood in America, asking Where's the Money?

Sample messages for differing markets:

Taxpayers spent $XX,XXX last year for every household in America. Where's Yours?

Where's Yours? You owe America's government many thousands of dollars, yes YOU, because the country is $18,000,000,000,003 in debt. Where's Yours?

Who spent the money in your name for you, that taxpayers had to give away or face prison? Would you spend the $XX,XXX dollars spent in your name the same way? Who bailed you out?

How come feminazi Althouse doesn't support republican woman Fiorina? War on women if republicans dare criticize Hillary2016! without employing the democrat progressive pre-approved "way republicans must address female candidates". But Fiorina, a woman, a successful woman, a business woman who succeeded in a male-dominated field- she don't rate with the feminazis who have long ago put all their chips on Slick Willy's wife. Take a dump on Fiorina, feminazis encourage you to do so... Don't even think about bringing up Sarah Palin.

Of course the answer is that feminism, like the BlackLives bullshitters, and the Protectors of Immigrants phonies, are all just democrat party operatives. If any of these groups encounter one of their own being republican, then they set upon them, attack to destroy, with the blessing of and aided and abetted by democrat party operatives and propagandists.

Despicable that democrat party members serve their political masters at the expense of the very individuals who they claim as their raison d'etre. But hypocrisy, deceit and absence of principles is the beating heart of the loathsome progressive democrat party, and always has been.

"Trump declared bankruptcy three times to shaft his investors while preserving his own wealth."

Attack Trump because NOT EVERY SINGLE INVESTOR PROFITED EVERY TIME. That makes his billions go away. Or, since it isn't liquid billions, continue to say the fortune doesn't count as anything at all, then mention bankrupt four times again.

Cool. I hate Steve Jobs because he was so much better than me, so I will cite him getting fired from his own damn company. That proves I'm able to See things commoners can't, and hence need to be listened to by others than myself. It proves that in Business, if every time you don't succeed then you will always be a failure.

Here is the lesson learned from the 4 bankruptcy attacks: Looks like Trump is magic. He fuckrapes everything, and person, in sight, and creates more fans with each malevolent premeditated act.

You had better concern yourself with your ass and its level of bloodiness then.

And remember: America hates second chances and riches to rags to riches stories. This country can't stand a winner, no matter what Patton said almost, like, a hundred years ago or sumpin.

Guildofcannonballs said...

The concern for Trump's investors who failed is truly overwhelming. All of you people must be the most decent people who ever lived, giving your money to those who got screwed by Trump without a second thought.

The people who lost out to Trump because he cheated by following the law, you know who they are of course so I won't expound, by God they deserved profit. Because.

Ergo Trump sucks and "risk" is a Trump creation to enrich himself at the expense of the little guy like you and me. Had anyone ever not made money on an investment before Trump came around?

I most-mega seriously doubt it.

"Donald J. Trump ‏@realDonaldTrump 14h14 hours ago
Jeb is spending millions of dollars on “hit” ads funded by lobbyists & special interests. Bad system."

Honestly, attack Trump for wanting to eliminate the 1st Amendment via some "take money out of politics" crap.

Trump's "fix" to this "bad system" seems to be willing disregard the voice of the Donor class paying for Jeb's campaign, which is unAmerican.

If the donors want to speak with hit ads against Trump, that's American.

Guildofcannonballs said...

"Mr. Trump you say America has a bad system because Jeb is free to choose his own message, can you name a better system in existence today somewhere? Or is your version of history the only place to find a better system?"

"As bad as the system is that let's Jeb articulate his differences with you, do you believe there are worse systems operating in the world?"

"Do you like the idea of the state controlling interests, for the people's benefit, as opposed to groups you call "special interests" or "lobbyists" having the ability to speak without approval from dispassionate government officials who are just looking out for the folks?"

So then we must ask, dear boy given events, is it conservative of Obama to rename Denali Denali? Er, Mt. McKinley Denali I meant.

?

The guy from TX Ken says Obama didn't do it at all, just brought attention to the thing happening already, in fact way, way underway.

Was the original intent, not of SCOTUS but of local Alaskans or else whomever you feel ought decide as long as you're accurate that locals should (have) decide(ed) and we only quibble about precise(!) degrees of distance considering the ableness to choose an heritage, to name the mountain Denali?

Have you read my analysis elsewhere, because I haven't yet yet I've not begun to fight.

I haven't begun to fight because I can't fight worth a shit.

I wanna know: What does Justice Thomas think of all that's gone on regarding this whole renaming thing. Does it, not in a strained manner but a more natural thought-flow respecting tradition not referencing it without adroit adroitness, return to Original Intent to name Denali Denali?

And if John Boehner cries off-camera, does it make a sound?

Not why, but how, could Obama look at himself as anything other than the most successful person on Earth?

His achievements are mythic.

Literally he judges himself, accurately, as an amazing phenomena waiting to become Legend, and most everything about Our culture reinforces that. This might be the only famous person ever to have never thought himself capable of bad things, like racism.

Looking back, are you angry Obama disrespected Boehner? Romney? Ryan?

I disrespect Boehner, Romney, and Ryan, and I voted for the last two.

I hate John McCain and completely respect people who voted against him (even though I have wisdom to know not voting for Palin was ignorance achieving precedented heights).

One of the problems with the last debate was so many candidates you didn't get to hear many of them answer more than two or three questions. It'd make more sense to break the group up into smaller groups with more separate debates.

Trump declared bankruptcy three times to shaft his investors while preserving his own wealth.

Translation: Trump is a person who is smart, a good negotiator, able to legally protect his own company from the same decline as the other “investors” and ends up with a company worth billions.

Readers, let us not forget that investors are gamblers, same as any gambler at the races; because when a stock is invested in the buyer is betting that the stock will gain in value. The stock market is simply sanctioned gambling in a financial setting.

But don’t we want a President who is a good negotiator? Don’t we want a President who is inclined to protect his nation from decline instead of giving literally everything the enemy wants to the enemy? Don’t we want a President who always ends up on top after the smoke clears?

On the Carly front: I am extremely happy to see she got in.
